o.k. each week I am going to type who I think are the front runners for the 2008 Heisman Trophy and where they stand.

WEEK ONE August 31st Recap

1. CHASE DANIEL--Big win over Illinois and looking at the schedule, Mizzou might not lose til the Big 12 title game. Unless Maclin is seriously hurt, Daniel the front runner.

2. TIM TEBOW--Did not see him play but he is the returning champion and he has to be among the front runners until proven otherwise.

3. MARK SANCHEZ--Might be a surprise pick, BUT the USC qb will always get a lot of hype and if he has a big game vs Ohio State 9-13 which I think he will, he will be in the mix.

4. STAFFORD/MORENO--I think Georgia is gonna be in the mix for the Title and these two kids will have a great opportunity to shine in the offense.

5. MAX HALL--o.k. you might say who is max hall but this kid is the BYU qb who threw for 486 yards. He has a favorable schedule to average 400 yards a game.

others
CHRIS WELLS--awaiting status of injury
JEREMY MACLIN--awaiting status of injury

So, can anyone point to 'R' rated material on the internet?

Not talking about G, not PG, not PG-13. Not speaking in terms of X, nor XXX. I am talking about 'R' rated. I read *Mark Cuban's Blog and I ran across an rant about this very subject and he is right. I looked and I am coming up blank. I have searched Porn Sites and YouTube. I have checked into it on MySpace and numerous other places. Can't find it! As Cuban points out Mr. Skin and Playboy.com will entice us, they are still only PG-13 unless you pay. I can go to P-Bot.com and download all the porn I would ever want for free, but no 'R' rated subject matter. Cuban defines it as:
"Where are the internet videos that cover grown up subject matters, where nudity 'that contributes to the subject matter' isn't considered gratuitous or pornographic ?"
I cant find it. So, what say you? Do you think he is wrong? I don't! I could not find any that really meets his definitions. If that is the case, is not that the most censored platform ever? The internet the most censored? I guess so.

Worst Baseball Fans Ever - ASTROS FANS

Some may know that I am a big St. Louis Cardinals fan. Have been all my life. When I was old enough to know better I would listen to the games on AM radio with my Dad who was also a Cards fan.

Well my lovely wife surprised me and got tickets for us to go see St. Louis play in Houston this past Saturday night. We had great seats in Sec 107 which is where a lot of the Cards fans seats were. There was around 39,000 people there and about 10,000 were Cards fans. They draw well in Houston just like most places.

My noticing of the Astros fans came in the top of the first when one of the best if not the best player in baseball, Albert Pujols, is introduced. Not only did the Houston fans boo him, which I understand since he usually bets them by himself, but I heard numerous curse words toward him and comments about steroids, his Mama, and whatever else. When I heard the steroid comments I thought, he has never been implacated but Miguel Tejada, who plays for the Astros was on the Mitchell report and these people praise him. Oh well.

Then I get up to go to the restroom and these 2 jerks pass me going in and make a comment about bandwagon Cards fans. OK I was wearing my Cardinals jersey and cap. But I think to my self, these jerks have no idea. I just laughed it off.

On the way back to my seat I stop to get a $7.25 beer and the guy working there made some smart comment about the Astros really putting it to the Cards on Friday night. I mean he kept going on & on. So finally I asked him how Houston liked being in 4th place and losing 10 of their last 13 games. He shut up then.

The game goes on and the Cards win 8-4.

We are leaving Minute Maid when 3 or 4 guys pass by us and make comments like "Go back to Missouri you F_ _ king Cardinals fan" Gee I live in Dallas, as in Texas you friggin idiot.
By this time I am getting pissed and my wife is a little uneasy. She knows that I don't play when someone pushes the wrong button.

Well we are staying at a Hotel that is just 2 blocks from Minute Maid so we are walking back there when we passed a Resturant called Cabo. Great fish taco's by the way.
While we are sitting there eating and enjoying each others company, this moron passes by our table and say's Cardinals suck.
OK enough, I started to get up when my wife grabbed my arm. I took a deep breath and chilled. I saw that he went and sat down at a table with what might have been his wife or girlfriend and about 8 other people.

As we are leaving I walk by their table and ask him what day the Astros were hanging their World Champions banner in Minute maid? The look on his face was priceless and everyone at the table laughed, except him.

We got back to the hotel and my wife said she could not beleive how those people in Houston act.

Well I know one thing, I am a true Texan through and through but I would never want to be a Texan if it meant being an Astros fan.

So, I think I will start this by saying the following is a TRUE STORY. Holy Cr@p!!!

Thursday - June 5, 2008 6pm - BB takes family to The Loop Pizza for dinner. My 2 year old loves this place and it has awesome pizza.

Thursday - June 5, 2008 7:30pmWe grab a Starbucks and head home to get the kids to sleep. Looks to be a boring night at BB's place.

Thursday - June 5th, 2008 10:00pm - BB is in the living room watching Game 1 of the Lakers / Celtics NBA Finals. Kids and wifey are crashed...just BB, the Dog and the HDTV! Man this night has shaped up nicely.

Thursday - June 5, 2008 10:38pm - The phone rings and I grab it thinking it is one of my buds calling to see if I am watching the game. I see the caller ID and it has a Tulsa Oklahoma # with the name F, Freddie listed."Hello", I said having NO IDEA who F, Freddie is. "Haylo. We at 75 coming close to 10. I'z think weez in Tupelo...uhhh...where the heII are we anyway?" says Elderly Female Voice 1. "Who the heck is this?", BB proclaims. "We ~~~~" says Elderly Female Voice 2. "No. Wez in Georgia. BB wez in Georgia. We gonna stop fo da night, but tell Wifey wez gonna be ther tomorrow afternoon and to expect us K?" Says Elderly Female Voice 1. BB repeats, "Who is this?" "It is Aunt Freddie and I have Grandma with me and we will be there tomorrow afternoon, tell Wifey to expect us." says, Aunt Freddie (a.k.a. Elderly Female Voice 1). BB replies, "What?" and Aunt Freddie repeats herself. BB says, "What do you mean you are gonna be 'HERE' tomorrow?". "Well I am travelling on to Disney and Grandma is gonna stay with you all for a few days. Tell wifey we called and said so.", She says. "Whoaa, Whoaa, WHOAAA. Dont hang up! Hang on Freddie, Hang on. Let me get Wifey for you. I know she will be upset that she did not get to talk to you...DONT YOU HANG UP!!!!!", BB exclaims THROWING the phone at his sleeping wife. Wifey says in her best I am dead asleep voice,"h e l l o. uh huh...uh huh...uh huh. Okay. bye bye". She hands BB the phone and says, "Grandma will be here tomorrow afternoon. Apparantly she will be staying for 4 days. Please dont be upset, I did not know she was coming in town." BB says, "HUH????? Your Grandma is coming in town for 4 days and staying with US??????? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME????? Can I call her back and tell her NO? Who the F' drives 1000 miles and doesn't call to let you know that?????". Wifey say, "It looks like my 87 year old Grandma does. BB you know I cant tell her no. I may not ever get to see her again. I dont know why she didnt call, but what can I do? Would you send off your Grandma?". BB replies, "My Grandma never has and never would do that...ever!". Wifey says, "Look I am a little shocked by the news myself, but I dont know what we can do."

OKAY, that is where I have to stop typing the rest of the story because I just cant figure out what kind of person does this. Seriously! Who the heII would do this??? Turns out Freddie is Grandma's sister in her early 80's. Holy Moly!!!

So, I must inform you that I have not ever met Freddie and Grandma once over a decade ago. Grandma is gonna be here Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights...leaving Tuesday. So, I have to ask:

WHAT THE F*CK DO YOU DO?

H E L P !!!

So, my wife and I like to look at property in our free time, alot. That may seem boring, but we see some really nice stuff usually. This weekend we are speculating about vacant land within a block of the ocean in smaller towns in Florida. I tell you that there are some deals out there right now.

For example we looked at a lot 2 lots away from the ocean in the Hammocks area. This lot was asking $300K+ just 18 months ago. Now we are looking at grabbing it for $100K-. Here is the dilemna, it seems too good to be true and we are seeing it everywhere we look. The real enticing part of it is the low price in a very very tropical area. Not that common for sure, but if it is such a great deal then why is it still there? Will the market continue to decline or have we truely gotten over the hump and things are bottomed out?

Our thought is that things have bottomed out and we want to get a few more pieces of pie before the market recovers. I think we are going to buy a few and call it a year, who knows? Just ramblin'!

So, if you did not already know and you actually give a crap. GE is selling it's appliance division for $5 Billion. It is estimated to be worth about $8 Billion. This is actually important in one of my many areas of expertise and how I make some of my living.

GE just decided to get out of the appliance business all together. This is a huge deal as if you couldn't have figured that out without me saying so.

The front runners to buy are foreign interests like Samsung or LG. These guys will come in and snag an american company like GE appliance for $5 Billion while their currency is stronger than the dollar. So it is really like they are getting it for much, much less. Again, this is a big deal in the appliance game. Think about it? Who do you buy your appliances from when you have a need?

You probably said Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, HH Gregg, Circuit City or SEARS. GE's sale will impact all of these negatively. Except one...SEARS! That is a good thing for US consumers too. Next time you have a need, you should do you patriotic duty and go to SEARS!

NOTE: The blogger has covered Alabama football, won an AP award for investigative journalism and now pens articles for PubClub.com.

For more on Alabama football, to to:
http://www.pubclub.com/collegefootball/alabama.htm

Nick Saban is no Bear Bryant.

He's not an imaginative innovator, a master motivator or quite as savvy of a sideline coach. He's not nearly as media friendly and certainly not anywhere near the poor-mouther, either; nobody could talk up an opponent like the Bear.

There is, however, one area in which Nick Saban excels even beyond Bryant, and that is in recruiting. Saban wins because he simply overwhelms opponents with talent.

Upon stepping on campus in the winter of 2007, Saban made a late run at Joe McKnight, a top-notch recruit from Louisiana. McKnight kept his commitment to USC, but him having some interest in Alabama shows just how influential Saban can be with top high school players.
iven a full year, Saban immediately lands the #1 recruiting class in the land. Less than three months later, he's already secured his top quarterback target for the 2009 class, A.J. McCarron of Mobile. Doesn't this guy ever go on vacation? Does he even play golf?

He's even undaunted by a new NCAA rule prohibiting coaches from seeing players after spring games. So what does he do? Sets up a video conference call with a Georgia recruit and talks with him over the Internet, which perfectly legal. Talk about keeping up with the times.
He also excels in another area, one directly related to recruiting the best players. Part of the recruiting "process," a word Saban often likes to use, is talent evaluation. He knows how to spot skillful players and he's the ultimate closer.

Two of his LSU recruits, Jamarcus Russell and Glenn Dorsey, were Top 5 NFL draft picks in back-to-back years. In fact, LSU had seven players drafted in 2008 (and in 2006 and 2004, as well). That's knowing talent when you see it.

And he can coach 'em when he gets 'em. College sports are littered with coaches who could recruit but not coach that talent when it arrives on campus. Saban may not be as spectacular as Bryant in that area, but he's solid.

After suffering through the "Mike Mistakes," it sure is a relief to have Nick Saban at Alabama. Now let's go win some games!

...you were like rattled the next day not knowing what happened?

My brother in-law is 23 and he likes to go out and drink. I always seem to forget that I cant keep up with a 23 year old anymore when it comes to knocking back a few cocktails. I can drink alot, but this kid puts me to shame. I used to be just like him, but as I have grown older, my body and mind cant recover nearly as well as it used to.

So Saturday night the wife says, why dont you take my brother out and watch the games at the bar. I think, HELL YES that sounds great. A hall pass from the wifey is always a welcomed event. So we went to a sports bar and watched the Vols go down to Arkansas. Had a few beers and some wings. Then he says, "Hey is there a bar that mixes good drinks near here?" to which I said, "Absolutely". So we went to one of my favorite places called Aromas. Cigars, expensive wines, VIP room, and strong drinks all for the taking. We are watching a boxing match and the bartender is beyond hooking us up. I have a standing rule that I dont do shots, but somehow it sounded like a good idea.

Then I woke up Sunday morning thinking I wrecked my SUV. I rush to the front of the house and realize it is fine. The wife says, "Are you okay?" I then realize that I am NOT OKAY. I feel horrible. I need a bloody mary just to function. My brother in law says, "Man I got sloshed last night and kept texting everyone. The last one I sent was at 1:20 am". I go check for my phone and wallet. I then realize that I spent about $300 in cash and paid the tabs with my Debit Card for another $179. I find my phone and it dawns on me that the last call I made was on the way home...to the police. WTF? I apparantly called the cops on my way home when I should not have even been behind the wheel.

1st - I never drink like that and drive! EVER!

2nd - I never would do that and call the police. Who would?

3rd - I am greatful that nobody is hurt other than a severe hangover that has still got ahold of me today (2 mornings later).

4th - I feel sooooooo STUPID for doing that!

5th - I am fortunate that my wife is understanding.

6th - can anyone explain why there is puke on the back patio of my house?

7th - argh!

8th - I think I am done drinking anything for a while. I cant believe I called the cops.

9th - I am glad that my son is too young to have seen me like that. Embarrassing.

10th - I AM SORRY I DID THAT!

Well, I dunno if any of you know what DECA is...but it's a club for Marketing students at high schools. We just had our state convention a couple of weeks ago....
I won second in my event, Sports and Entertainment Marketing. We had to put together a plan to draw more donations and alumni association members.
Needless to say, I kicked its' ASS! Now, I'm probably going to Nationals for the third straight year...just need a couple more people from Southwestern High School to go with me..fingers crossed.

But of course, the real reason we all go to state is to hang out with friends...LOL. my few pictures from the looong weekend (6 hours of sleep in 4 days.)
some pictures of me and friends from state

If It Looks Like A Rat…

Anytime I see photos of Carmella DeCesare, a few things come to mind. I’ll exclude my personal desires, for the sake of this piece, and touch on the memory of a then 49ers receiver, Terrell Owens, and his questioning of the sexual preference of quarterback Jeff Garcia. To put it not so nicely, T.O called Jeff gay.

A Quarterback/Receiver feud is neither new nor uncommon, but T.O took it to another level in his Playboy Magazine interview, when he made references to Garcia’s lifestyle (never seeing him with girls) and the way he carried himself. To quote Owens’ exact words, “Like my boy tells me: if it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, by golly, it’s a rat.”

Of course, there was a quick fallout to the statements, and one day later, Owens has clean up duty and says he didn’t know if Garcia was gay or not. Although his “misinterpretation” claim brought his saga to an end, it only marked the beginning for Jeff Garcia. Gay and Lesbian groups quickly came to Garcia’s defense and made him their poster boy, to which he wasn’t happy. He spent months defending his sexuality, and those groups spent months hammering away at T.O’s homophobic claim of keeping a distance from gay players, and plastering Garcia’s face as the victim.

The quarterback and receiver pair recently hooked up for another touchdown in last month’s Pro Bowl. But this time it wasn’t the single Jeff Garcia, who is never seen with girls, but the newlywed Garcia, who is married to Carmella DeCesare. Garcia married the former wrestler turned playmate last year, and anyone that’s seen her umm…”spread” in Playboy, knows she’s 100% woman. Unless this is one of those marriages of convenience, I would say Garcia has more than cleared his name. And if it is a marriage of convenience, I could only wish things could be as convenient for myself.

Since the marriage, I don’t believe the 2004 war of words between old 49ers has been revisited. It’s mostly all but forgotten, until I come across one of her photographs (or maybe 3 or 4). Who knows what Jeff’s bride would say about those old accusations, but the teary eyed Carmella would probably tune in with something like this:

“Y’all leave Jeff Garcia alone. That’s my soul mate. That’s my quarterback".
